Please find below the roles which we are actively seeking volunteers for.

    Squirrel Drey Team Member

Bringing the ‘Wow!’ to our youngest Scouts, in a welcoming, safe and inclusive environment, the Section Teams make it happen for our Squirrels.

Wanted: Natural smilers, panic-free adapters and easy encouragers. In the Squirrels Section Team, you’ll be making our 4-6 year olds’ eyes light up with wonder on a regular basis. We’re talking get-down-to-their-eyeline talkers and ‘let’s-discover-the-World-together’ co-adventurers.

Sound like you? You’ll be passing on skills for life to our youngest Section, while mentoring, making sure the environment’s safe and keeping everything behind the scenes ticking over. Never been a Scout before? Neither have the Squirrels!

Trust us, it’s never too late to get involved in the fun! Please contact us.

    Group Treasurer/Trustee Member

Our Treasurer would like to retire after many years’ service to our group.

The treasurer plays a key role in the group, monitoring and managing the finances of the group, making sure that the Group’s financial information is maintained accurately and meets all the relevant laws, and submitting the district’s annual accounts to the Charity Commission.

Alongside this, the treasurer works with the senior and key volunteers and the Trustee Board to decide how to use the groups money to provide the best quality scouting that we can to our members, aged 4 to 18.

Previous experience of financial management is useful but not essential, but ideally you are organised, confident with financial information, and able to communicate well.

No previous experience of scouting is necessary. What’s more important is your own skills and experience as well as empathy with our values. We provide a warm welcome, a DBS and some online learning to support you and help you get started as well as lots of ongoing support.

This is not a full-time volunteer role. This is a very flexible role which you can fit around your family, work and social commitments, you will be required to attend around three Trustee Board meetings every year, plus our Annual General Meeting.

This role is ideal for someone, who would like to support local scouting in a flexible way and by not working directly with young people. Being a part of scouting is great fun, and it goes without saying that supporting young people can be one of the most rewarding things you can do.
